New Beginnings

This Buddhist blog has morphed into something else. It is a platform I created originally to address little known and controversial facts about the history of Buddhism. I wanted to let people know that this tradition has an alternative storyline than the one being marketed to the West.

I also wanted to promote the building of stupas, and to help in the creation of sacred public spaces with stupas as centerpieces.

All of that mission is well and good, and is more than enough to carry one through a lifetime of reflection and activity.

Along the way, I got diverted, which seems to be my nature.  Once I learn something and incorporate it into my being, I want to move on.  My research and writing for this blog led me to question my own involvement with Buddhism and its belief systems.  As readers may know, I pursued a line of inquiry about ‘secular Buddhism’ and what this meant for our culture.  I also asked myself if I really believed in reincarnation.  My willingness to ask the tough questions then led me in directions that weren’t really Buddhist at all.  It became a stretch to explore subjects that only had relevance based on the fact that the Buddha said, “Question everything!”

That is a bit of a weak link, but hey, this is my blog and I’ve never set myself up to be a defender of anything.  I have more questions than answers, and most of them have nothing to do with Buddhism.

As you may know, the topics for the blog began to veer into my concerns about various developments in our society, most of them disturbing and controversial.  This was aided, or perhaps propelled by the burgeoning Occupy Wall Street movement.

I wrote ten articles exposing a variety of social, political, and financial developments that I felt were important for people to know about.  My last article in March 2012 was about Mind Control, which felt like a wrap-up for the ten piece series.

NOW WHAT?  I’ve taken a break for 3 months and am now back to writing in this blog.  I’ve decided to continue my adventure out of my Buddhist nest, and into the wider sphere of general observations about issues confronting our society. Perhaps I should create a new blog, but for the time being I’ll continue with this platform.  Who knows where this will end up?

I have been doing a great deal of research lately and have been scouring the web and reading books furiously.  There is an avalanche of information out there and the depth and breadth of it is accelerating.  To me, this is incredibly inspiring, because many people are waking up and challenging conventional views. Everywhere I look, old paradigms are crumbling, and new ways of looking at things are emerging.  It seems all of society is aware of this development.

This blog will follow various twists and turns in this arena, and will hopefully bring you new information, or at least some interesting syntheses. My interest is exploring and exposing information that is hidden from general view. I like being a detective who arrives early on the scene.  Any subject that is a potential game changer stirs my passions. My hope is that you too will be stirred by the reports emanating from this blog. We all need to be a part of the conversation underway in our society, because we are in crisis. Changes are soon to come that will take our breath away.  Are we ready?
